I do realize that my blog has been all about Bubbles. And if you met her in person and realized how flipping cute she was then you wouldn’t complain. Jerks. (EDITORS NOTE: For the record, no one is complaining… I am just saying…LOOK AT HOW CUTE SHE IS?!)
And now with my new phone upgrade the ease of capturing the cuteness has increased by 100%.
Last night. I got home from my biznass trip and got a little R&R in for the first time since Sunday. I have a really hard time falling asleep after traveling, so I was up while my boo and Bubbles snored away. Right as I’m about to turn over and shut off the light…this is what I saw….
I mean…….. I. DIE. And I usually curse at her when I realize she has the whole bed occupied, but when I see this sight I just sort of forget…At least until I wake up at 330AM freezing and see Bubbles curled up on top of all the blankets in the MIDDLE (not top, not bottom) MIDDLE of the bed.
Recently, Bubbles’ thing in the morning is to act like she’s stretching as I get my belongings together. BUT in reality she’s “stretching” - ie: reaching her little paws out and placing them on my feet, telling me to stay or bring her with me. As if it’s not already hard enough getting out the door to go to work.
Today, she was out.of.control. Bubbles pulled out every trick in her book, making me actually consider working from home (ridiculous, right?). This morning was a different kind of morning though. EJ didn’t have to rush off to work, so Bubbles and I had a big morning getting ready, we went for a little walk, had a little turkey bacon (whatever. don’t judge me), and right as I kissed my boo goodbye and began picking up my laptop, she decided it would be a lot of fun to put all her weight on the bag that’s on the chair while simultaneously looking up with her wrinkly little face that screamed “Please don’t go. PLEEEASSEEEEEEE”. I did my best to laugh it off and picked up my bag, and at that moment she decided that since sabotaging my bag pick up didn’t work, she’d jump up, push me right in my stomach and down into the chair, where my bag was placed. At that moment, I had to pull myself together, get myself back up and walk to the door. From behind, Bubbles had a burst of energy, ran through me and beat me to the door…ready to go with me to the office. I made her sit and thinking she would stay I opened the door…BAM…she ESCAPES into our corridor. Running, jumping, bouncing…stretching. Everything. “Don’t gooooo! PLEASE don’t go! I want to play.” (If only she could speak.)
Do you know how DIFFICULT it is to not give in and just work from home? I want to play too! I can’t play at work.
But I pulled myself together, got her in the house and tricked her with a tennis ball (she may be sneaky, but she’s very easily distracted). And right as she turned her head and attention, I escaped. Even though all of me didn’t want to…
And that my friends is how I start my mornings. Every. Single. Day.
Over the past month and a half I have been getting threatening emails from my IT department to get my email quota “in check” and below 1.0 GB. Doesn’t seem like much until you understand that I was at 6.2 GB when I received my first email. And for the record, it is not my fault that it was so large. When we converted to this new email system, we were not told there would be a quota… in fact, NOT HAVING A QUOTA was the reason why we moved to this horrid email system in the first place…
Anywho… after a sad attempt of deleting and archiving my emails since mid May, I FINALLY DID IT!!!! And I know it won’t last long (already over), but I’ll tell you what, it’s a highlight of my day. I am not proud to admit that (very sad that it’s a highlight)…but you know…it’s the little things.
This weekend marks my FAVORITE weekend of the whole Summer.
It’s Reggae weekend! This is the event that basically pushes my mentality out of Spring and into Summer. And to those who live in the South, you’re probably thinking I am crazy since it has been at least 90 degrees for the past month and higher than 70 since March/April… But it’s more of a mental thing. This weekend is when EJ and I go up to the lake and sail in the Reggae Regatta. What can be better? Sailing. Reggae. Sunshine. Steel drum band. Rum. Food. Camping. HEAVEN.
I am so giddy. I can’t wait to get out of work. I mean, I am always looking forward to Fridays, but this Friday I get antsy in my pantsy. Bust open those doors. Feel the warm air on my face. Drive up to the lake. Wind in my hair. No driving for the weekend. Just sailing!
Here’s to a great weekend! What is everyone else up to?
So, I am pretty sure everyone knows what a mullet is… business in the front, party in the back… Here are few examples (try not to gag or vom in your mouth)…
Classic 80s Prom Pic:
Or…white trash mullet:
Or the BEST MULLET EVER:
Ok, so I think you get the point… So today, I have a half day. Which means this cat is out the door at noon. (Hopefully). Only to jump into a car and drive 2-2.5 hours for a wedding. So naturally, I do what anyone would do. Take casual Friday to a whole ‘nother level.
I give you… the mullet outfit. Business on the top. Casual on the bottom (that’s what she said). So I have a normal shirt I would wear with a skirt or pants and then throw in a pair of flats/sandals and voila, my Friday wear. But today…I threw on the Bermuda shorts (still acceptable for office wear as they go to my knees) and then a cute comfy pair of flip flops Rainbows. And voila, casual Friday with a twist of absolute comfort with a sprinkle of laziness.
Whatever. You’re just jealous I am out of work in 3.5 hours. Judge all you want as I am laughing down the highway.
In order to save a little cash-o-la and to help the environment, EJ and I carpool, allowing me to walk about a half mile to work. Now I’ll admit, there are days where I bitch and moan or just drive myself…which is ridiculous considering I used to walk EVERYWHERE in Boston. But today, we were out the door early and off to Midtown. Today is the kind of day that makes me really appreciate a few things.
a) Summer. Sweet, sweet baby Jesus, Summer is here. It’s nice to see you.
b) The constant breeze that I get on my walk. Not all days are like this, but I’ll tell you what. When the breeze is on, you can feel it that much more since Atlanta is so spread out - unlike New York or Boston, where it can get trapped behind the buildings.
c) All the birds chirping. Atlanta has a lot of trees and on my walk, when it’s not too busy with cars passing, I can hear the birds singing their summer songs. It’s pretty awesome.
Today - my walk was unbelievable. It made me step back and realize I live in a beautiful city. Sometimes I even forget that I am in Atlanta and feel like I am walking out onto the beach of a Caribbean island. Unfortunately, I have a rude awakening when walking into my office that I am in fact NOT going to the beach…but a girl can dream for the 10 minute walk down Peachtree Street.
